Type Locality and Naming
East-central Anhui. The Zhangbaling Gr was named by Zhang Jianmo in 1958. The naming locality is Zhangbaling, west of Chuzhou City, Anhui Province.
Synonym: (张八岭群)
Lithology and Thickness
The lower part of the group (Beijianjun Fm) is composed of phyllite-schist series, while the upper part (Xileng Fm) is a spilite-quartz keratophyre series. The total thickness is recorded as over 3591 m.

Lower contact
The contact relation of the group with underlying Feidong Group is unknown.
Upper contact
It has an unconformable contact with Zhougan Fm (Sinian).
Regional extent
East-central Anhui. It is distributed mainly in Zhangbaling, west of Chuzhou City.

Fossils
Age
Zircon from the Xileng Fm was dated by U-Th-Pb at 1026 Ma, and the spilite is dated by Pb-dating on whole rock at 1031 Ma. Based on these dates, it is inferred that the Zhangbaling Gr should be attributed to the Mesoproterozoic Erathem. Schematic stratigraphy column displays as spanning Jixianian-Yuxian (Calymmian-Stenian).
